What Happens During Prom Night?

Prom nights are usually for young ladies and gentlemen ages 16 and above. This is a prom night like no other. It was last June 30, 2018 when the teen patients of TPH Kythe were all dressed in their formal suits and gowns. It was a night when patients experienced what a prom should be. It was combined with a graduation ball to honor the brave kids who fought for their lives in fighting the big C. The spectacular night was themed “A Celebration of Life”, a night of thanksgiving with the teen patients of TPH Kythe. The event was held at Dampa Seafoods Restaurant in San Rafael, Tarlac and was attended by a total of 100 people. The program started with the processional of patients wherein each of them had the chance to walk down the aisle and show themselves in their beautiful gowns and suits. There were number of patients who also  had the chance to dance and be part of the “Cotillon de Honor”. Tears of joy overflowed as each cancer survivor and teen patient went onstage to take a bow.

The event was graced by Dr. Ricardo Ramos, the past medical director of TPH. He signed the memorandum of agreement which sealed the partnership between the Provincial Government of Tarlac, Tarlac Provincial Hospital and Kythe on June 2004. It was also the same time Dr. Kathyrine B. Pascual partnered with Kythe to promote healing and growth among hospitalized children. Dr. Kathy was also there to witness how her patients have grown to become young ladies and gentlemen. Ms Maria Fatima Garcia-Lorenzo gave an inspirational talk to the brave teen patients, and guests present on the said event.

This battle against cancer is a living testimony of the toughness of the human spirit of our little warriors. It is also a testimony of utmost love and care of their courageous parents for sacrificing all their time, energy and effort for their loved ones to survive the Big C. This event was also a tribute to all the sponsors, donors, advocates who showed their love to pursue a dream of having more cancer survivors, especially in Tarlac Provincial Hospital. We thank the Provincial Government of Tarlac, Infinity Salon, IPSOS, who selflessly lend a hand to these precious children, and of course to Ms April Anne Mangurnong who has been there from the very start, supporting the children of Kythe.
