Kythe Family Day 2014: Celebrating Heroes

Kythe Family Day 2014 Celebrating Heroes

Our Kythe kids stepped up and reached for their dreams along with their favorite superheroes at the annual Family Day event, held last June 21, 2014 at the AFP Medical Center.

In highlighting the solidarity within the child-patients’ families as they brave cancer and other chronic illnesses, Kythe Family Day is held annually to give children, parents, and siblings the chance to relax, have fun, and celebrate the time that they have together as one.

Among Family Day’s major sponsors were William Bayot of Fun Factory Philippines and Jon Uy Bomping. William’s initiative to help handle his godson’s first birthday 8 years ago jumpstarted Fun Factory’s successful regular activities, and Kythe Family Day especially merges William’s talents in events management with his strong sense of advocacy for granting kids happiness through creativity and imagination.

This year’s Family Day carried the theme “Superheroes,” and decorations featured popular Marvel comic book, television, and movie superheroes such as Spiderman, Wolverine, and the Fantastic Four. The theme was chosen to give special tribute to the parents of our Kythe kids—their heroes in their fight against cancer.

Patients Alfred and James of NCH and Edison of UST shared emotional tributes to their parents, and after the parents received special thank you letters from their respective children, the families enjoyed sponsored cakes and claimed loot bags. The kids also received school supplies in time for the coming school year.

William is both proud and grateful to have taken part in Family Day, and will celebrate with Kythe again next year. In his pledge to sponsor the Child Life Program in a Kythe-affiliate hospital under the Adopt-a-Hospital Campaign, William also thanks the following for helping him raise funds: Michelle Paboroquez; Marc Ervin Tio; Eurowear Marketing Corporation; Cathy Dee; Rommel and Maribeth Young; Venice Creation Inc.; Torch; Steven and Janice Yu; Alex and Margie Yau; Marivic Pascual; Angelo Martires; and Data Computer Forms Inc.

Congratulations to all our ‘superheroes’ for inspiring hope!
