A Continuing Education seminar workshop for Child Life Coordinators was held last January 30, 31 and February 1 ,2019 at the Hive Hotel and Convention Place. Full-time child life coordinators (CLC) from different Kythe-partner hospitals around Metro Manila, as well as from Cebu and Davao, came together for three days of learning and development. Topics were on Story-telling, Palliative Care, Mindfulness and Mobile Phone Photography.
The Continuing Education also marked the culmination of the four-week practicum for the six Child Life United students from the United States. The Kythe Child Life Coordinators and Child Life United students returned to their respective work place with renewed enthusiasm, and updated knowledge on how to provide quality service to pediatric patients.
Child Life United students conducted their practicum with Kythe Philippines. Child Life United (CLU) is a US-based organization which offers international practicum programs for individuals interested to pursue a career in Child Life. Now on its second year, the students visited Kythe partner hospitals in Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao to immerse themselves, and understand how the Kythe Child Life Program works.
The UP-PGH medical students also conducted a study on Kythe’s operations for one week. This is also UP-PGH second year with Kythe, as part of their student’s management coursework. The medical students are required to submit an evaluation and we in Kythe appreciate this so we can improve our management style. Kythe has truly become training ground for future Child Life Specialists and Doctors!
Spook and Fun is this year’s theme of Kythe’s Post Halloween Party held last November 12,2018 at the lobby of Philippine Children’s Medical Center. Hema-Onco patients came dressed in their cutest, spooky and funny Halloween costumes. Elsa of Frozen and the iconic Pinoy albularyo Mang Kepweng bagged Best in Costume for Female and Male respectively. Participants brought home loot bags, sweet treats and other goodies from our generous sponsors.
Kythe, in partnership with the UNILAB Foundation, shared ways on how fellow advocates focused on the importance and power of play for child’s health and holistic development. The program is established with the belief every child has the right to play, whatever their circumstances.
It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas! Our sincerest gratitude to AG New World Manila Bay Hotel’s Executive Committee, Management and Staff for embracing Kythe’s hoodie campaign to support the children with cancer. The partnership between Kythe and AG New World Hotel allows patients to experience a gastronomic feast at the hotel’s buffet since 2012. Check-out AG New World Hotel’s promo for this season!
